Healthy Mindset: Expectation vs. Reality

It’s not always positive thoughts

Work on your mindset is a never-ending process. It doesn’t happen over night, and it doesn’t stop either. Developing a healthy mindset should occur on a daily basis in terms of making sensible judgments and, to the greatest extent possible, to be in the healthiest mental state. Others, on the other hand, feel that having a healthy mentality entails having only optimistic ideas all of the time, when in truth, the opposite is true.

When the lockdown began, I wasn’t feeling my best for a few months. I realized I couldn’t go on like this forever, so I started listening to podcasts, watching YouTube videos, and reading self-help books to help create a healthy attitude that would allow me to function correctly every day. Here’s what I’ve learned thus far.

Expectation: You don’t get sad.
Reality: You embrace sadness.

Some individuals may believe that having a healthy attitude means that you no longer get upset because you are constantly cheerful, but this is not the case. You become depressed and allow it to consume you for a period of time. But wait, isn’t it unhealthy? I don’t know about you, but it seems far better to feel and embrace the sadness while it is present. Why? Because having a healthy mentality is acknowledging your feelings rather than suppressing them, and knowing in your bones that you’ll be fine and will never, ever let it overtake you for an extended period of time, affecting your life in general.

Expectation: You can avoid having problems.
Reality: You can have a stronger resilience.

I used to assume that because I can make sensible decisions, I could avoid issues as much as possible. The truth is that no one can avoid challenges, and our thinking can only help us find solutions and believe that everything will be ok. It has to be fine. That’s what I learned. Having a positive mindset does not mean that we can always escape problems; it simply means that we will overcome them via healthy communication, expression, and reactions.

Expectation: You get no negative thoughts
Reality: You don’t let negativities and unpleasant thoughts control your life.

When I decided to take extra care and improve my game in working on myself to be healthier in every way, one of my goals was to effectively prevent negative thoughts before sleeping or at random intervals. We’re sad to have to break it to you, but we can’t help it. No matter what precautions we take. I was afraid the first few days while I was meditating for 15 minutes as I couldn’t be alone with my thoughts. When I first started, I wasn’t in a good place. I was dead wrong. A healthy mentality can only be achieved by confronting your negative thoughts and recognizing that they are only concerns. They aren’t real. They are entirely avoidable. And you should not allow those to prevent you from taking advantage of the opportunities, making crucial decisions, or simply controlling your life in general. That is the power of a healthy mind.

When I found out the truth, I was dismayed. I assumed it would be a walk in the park, but it’s a lot of work that we have to do all the time. We need discipline and a strong desire to mold our thoughts and intuition to work with us rather than against us.
