The Only Reason Why You Should Get That Instagram Verification

You’re not missing something

I can only imagine how much “Can you verify me?” Every day, Instagram internals receive. To be frank, that blue tick has become a status symbol for people across all social media networks. But what is it with our fixation on being verified? Why do we need to be verified in the first place?

Strangely, according to Adam Mosseri, Head of Instagram, there are no significant advantages to being verified except for one:

People can distinguish your account from all the fake ones

That’s all there is to it. You do not appear at the top of the feed, stories, or explore, and, most importantly, you do not obtain better engagements solely because you are verified. It’s not designed to grant you any form of advantage. He debunked and addressed those Instagram verification myths on his IGTV channel. The blue tick indicates that that person, who is somewhat famous or relevant, is real. That is their account. Verification is only attainable if you have a specific level of notability. Even big brands, even with 1M followers but with little reputation cannot be authenticated. Don’t sweat it.

But what if I want to be verified?

According to them, there is no minimum number of followers. But, once again, you must be someone in whom people are interested, which is why you must provide relevant articles about you from various media outlets for them to evaluate and analyze. This may be done immediately through the Instagram app.

To summarize, that blue tick isn’t especially remarkable. You do not gain early access to the first features because developments differ from country to country. You may also sign up for their Beta program through the Play Store or whatever app you use. It just assists others in avoiding confusion and protects the popular ones from being the target or false posts.
